Speech Topic
So I'm not really sure what I'm gonna do yet. I'm in between the topics of beauty contests are harmful and prostitution should be legalized. I think I could make valid arguments for both topics, but I'm not sure which one will be more persuasive. I think beauty contests in a way are bad, because the women just mess with their image so much, it's not even them anymore. And they are famous and rich for no other reason except people think they are attractive. It is also bad because the contests are becoming more popular for youth. Like there's the show toddlers and tiaras and these five year olds are wearing make up and have their hair dyed. But on the other hand, prostitution is like an individual liberty and no one cares that these strangers are having sex, they only care about the fact that money is being exchanged. But that could be an occupation for some people. So yeah, I'm still debating between these two topics...

DO PROSTITUION its a right and sex is healthy and men need to have sex to be happier thats why so many people are deprssed today because they have SHITty sex lives and end up getting devoriced. the morals are not there. but it may be good. but talk abotu stds and safe sex and how important that is
ReplyDeleteI would do beauty contests. I think it's broader and you could tie in the harmful effects the media has on teen girls. Also, it'd be easier to relate to than prostitution because all girls suffer from the pageant's and media's idealistic model. Yes and the show toddlers and tiaras is disgusting. And it's basically all the parents who are imposing that stuff of their kids.
ReplyDeleteMal,
ReplyDeleteHmmm... both seem good topics, though Jo has a point when she claims that legalizing prostitution is a more 'sexy' (if you'll pardon the pun) topic. Still, there seems to be some sore of continuum here: dressing up toddlers so that they look like 'sexy' adults, and the need to satisfy male desires. I'm glad that you'll be pushing the envelop a bit here, and I look forward to hearing your presentation!
I would do the beauty contest. Because this subject is becoming a very serious matter!!! and you could have fun with this. Blame it on the parents who are making their children do this because they never could and they wanted to.
