D.D.

I thought this movie was very interesting, but the fact that we watched it in a three day duration made it a little bit more difficult to understand. I thought that it was interesting that Grandma death had so much to do with everything that went on in the book. At first I didn't understand what was going on in the movie. I thought it was kind of frustrating how he went back in time by himself but I think it would have been cool if his girlfriend went back in time with him so he could experience all of his madness with someone else. I didn't really understand the whole bubble coming out of his chest thing, I wouldn't really know what to do with myself if that happened to me but I think that Donnie's situation was frightening and I wouldn't really know how to deal with myself if that happened to me.

  1. Yeah i agree with you on the confusion of it all. It still doesn't make sense to me. That being said, i did miss the middle half. But from what I've seen i think that as much sacrifice that Donnie made to save the world, i think in a way he saved himself. He cured his insanity by ending it all.

  2. Yea it was kind of confusing to watch it over a three day period. It is definitely weird to think about the choices we have and what we would do in that situation.

  4. I'm with Trevor in seconding your idea that this isn't a movie to watch in discrete chunks. Need to see it all at once to get the point (if there is one). I do like your observation about Grandma Death--given that death is so central to The Plague, maybe this is a potential connection between the film and the book.

  5. I don't think that the point of the movie is confusing. I think the theme is that everyone has a choice. I think what is confusing is the choice that he makes. I don't understand why he stays in his bed; I would not have made that same choice. I think that's the more confusing part, that instead of overcoming 'fate' through choices, he just goes with it. I'm not sure how to process his decision other than disappointment. I suppose they had to finish the movie eventually eh?
