I want to bring up the fact that driving is a privilege that comes too easy. I want to suggest that driving tests need to be more intensive (maybe a test of driving in many different situations), cars need to be no cell phone zones, in that cars need to be installed with transmitters that redirect cell phone signals inside the cabs of vehicles to eliminate all distraction that cell phones provide. Cars also should have breath-o-lizer ignitions that require a driver to blow before the car can start. If it was a lot harder to obtain a driver's license, then people would be forced to have to make use of public transportation, which in all would also eliminate carbon emissions. Although our nation has a very poor public transportation system, people who could not obtain licenses would eventually ask local and national representatives to bring about the topic of implementing a more complex and much safer public transportation system that would save hundreds of lives everyday. I hopefully am going to be able to provide more suggestions to the topic of driving in our country, but for now this is what I have.
God Bless.
Davis,
ReplyDeleteAs we discussed, I think that this is an excellent topic (you ought to be able to have some fun with this!). Keep in mind the basic mantra we discussed: "driving is a right, not a privilege." Then enumerate the many ways in which hopeful drivers would need to earn this privilege, and the benefits from having them do so.
I feel that you have a very persuasive argument going, you might want to include the propensity that younger drivers have to get in accidents, etc. Just an idea. Otherwise, very well thought out.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I use my cell phone if I am riding in the back of a vehicle? I don't think there is anything wrong with me texting while someone else is driving. This actually could reduce distraction, as, instead of bothering the driver, I'm soaked up in my cell phone. Also, what happens if, despite all of these extra regulations, I do get into a car crash, and I'm trapped in there? I can't get out of the car, but I've got my cell phone. Unfortunately, it doesn't work because of evil phone blocker magic machine. Then, I die because I can't call for help. I just drove by a bank, where a bunch of people just got gunned down by armed robbers. I don't want to stop, because that puts me in danger, but I sure as hell want to call the cops, yet this device prevents me from doing so.
ReplyDeleteWell it would be a matter of the car being in park for you to be able to use your phone. If your car is moving you cannot use it
ReplyDeleteIf I crash, my car isn't going to be in park. In the other scenario, I don't want to park, I want to get away from there while calling the police. And still, what about passengers?
