Essays

Basically, i've been driving myself crazy trying to think of ideas. Like literally. And i've already started a few, but am having issues with how each essay develops (what the greater meaning is/ how do I intertwine this with the actual narrative story)

Here are subjects ( and their greater meanings)

Skiing: how in order to truly love something you have to find that love on your own...it can't be forced down your throat.

Mushroom hunting: this one has been a real issue..... the meaning will probably lie in slowing down the chaos we call life and both appreciating, and simply taking the time to notice, the intricaies of nature.

Summer jobs: this one is still a little bit cloudy....not quite sure where i'm going to take it.

  1. Celine,

I have every confidence in you as a writer, and know that you'll be able to pull off something very compelling. We talked about the internship at The Daily Planet (which would see fitting on so many levels--it allows you to talk about what makes Telluride unique, even as you address your own passion for writing). I'd be a little wary of the mushroom hunting. Regardless of the 'innocence' of the topic (and its propensity for you 'slowing down' and connecting with Nature), I worry that some readers might immediately associate it with more psychoactive pursuits (but I may be wrong. Regardless, I look forward to seeing a draft from you soon!
