Gender Stereotypes

Gender stereotypes have not been particularly relevant in my life thus far, but I realize they do exist. Yesterday, Iris, Riley and I discussed some typical gender stereotypes. We noticed that often times, males are considered inconsiderate. They can sometimes lack manners, hygiene, motivation and consideration towards women. Chivalry isn’t dead and it should never die. Even though women have risen as strong independent power holders, men should still show respect to them by being gentlemen. Also, it is obvious that men have not realized that women are rising in power. Women of any race can hold commanding positions, whether it is in the armed forces, politics, or economics. Men still make jokes about how a woman’s place is at home, or better yet, in the kitchen, when it is a fact that more women today are having jobs outside of them home leaving the men are taking over some household duties. Another point that we noticed that bothered all of us a little more personally is that if a guy dates multiple girls, they are considered cool “players”. But if a woman were to do that, everyone would consider her activity to be promiscuous. These are just a few of the gender stereotypes that I believe will always exist in some ways, just because of the general differences between the sexes.

  1. Guys should definitely be polite to girls, but the majority of the time they aren't is cause they are joking around.

  2. Its definitively true that men do see women in a lower position, but in reality, women are rising fast while men are declining. Its the old ideas of women that are starting to be proven completely wrong, bringing down the men that created them, or all of men.

  3. i agree completely Olivia. Men really lack a sense of caring, about: their Hygiene, school work, work and appearance. or at least that is how they come off. and they don't realize their soon to be lack of power over women.

  4. I like this. All of what you said is very true and women are becoming more and more powerful. Yet some men still laugh when they think of a women holding an official job. Things are getting much better than they were many years ago, and one day the men will be apologizing to us women.
