stereotype

As history goes back you don't really see this stereotype around that much, But now i find it to be a big part of our society. Girls have kind of come under the influence that they are always right and that they can make up false advertising on people (especially guys) that is completely a lie just to make it so they are better recognized. I find that in this school girls think they are the cats meow and that nothing can over come them. For instance There was a comment in class the other day about how "guys are slackers and just do drugs"( not from Mr. Lavender). But when i comes down to it i can name just as many girls that have done drugs as well. They also think that they are the school prised possession because of there sports. They always have some way to get away with things like not being at class or being late because they were icing but that is not an excuse to get you out of class, but for some reason they think it is perfectly okay. When you go and look at there records they arnt anything special. They have rarely made it passed regionals and gone onto states. Then when you look at the guys standings we are just as good if not better is some records. If these Lady's go off to college with this thought in there head they are going to have a pretty rued awaking to the real world. This is a school that maybe competes at a D III level which is nothing. There are schools around us that have kids being drafted into major universities and not having to pay a Penni for anything because they are so good at a certain sport. I think that men in this school have kind of come to the reality that if we really wanted to go somewhere fare in a sport that we would have had to probably moved to a bigger school and dedicated almost all of our time to it. The girls in this school have come under a terrible influence that isn't going to get them far in the normal day life unless the change it walk into the real world.

  1. I think this is totally true...like the only people from our school that have gotten athletic scholarships for sports are guys like Kevin, Mike, and Colton...

  2. Girls do much more judging than guys do. However I do not agree, I WAS THE ONE who made that statement and I totally agree that it to some degree can be hypocritical but it is a gernalization based on what I see on a day to day basis is a lack of effort from guys who could very well be super intelligent but choose to live their lives differently. There are countless other guys in our school that are strong individuals, who are athletes, head of knowledge bowl teams and will be going somwehere and making soemthing out of their lives.

  3. I'm going to have to agree, women are in a hierarchy position in their minds

  4. Being confident and independent is not a crime. The women in this school who you are referring to are all successful and motivated. Also, many of our female athletes have gone to top tier, D1 schools and made the team in their school. Women are dedicated to what we do, and although i do believe that the "slacker/drug" comment may be a generalization, but however, it is not untrue.

  6. it is hard living in a small town with a limited amount of practice time and players, so you have to do the best you can with what you have. maybe girls have a better way of hiding their drug/slacker appearance because at school they act like they care.

  7. This is true in a sense but not completely true. The women in this school particularly in our grade are very successful at whatever they do, and from some points of view you can just see that the girls do apply themselves more and maybe its that mentality (that you describe) that the boy have thinking they dont have a chance that makes guys seem like slackers. as far as athletics i can name a number of girls in our grade that will go on to play college level athletics JO, EMY, NAOMI, JESSI, EMILY and that is just a few, and not only i guarantee that a lot of the women in our grade will be getting academic scholarships for their hardwork(not saying that some guys wont) the the girls are really applying themselves and working hard.

  8. Riggs, I agree with you actually. Maybe it's because I am not in athletics and can step back and look at this from an unbiased perspective. Everything you said about our girl athletes it kind of true and I don't want to ruffle any feathers, we DO have really good athletes, but guess what, we don't go to a big school, we don't work on athletics all year long, and chances are no one will really go pro, if they even play their sport in college. The only thing that kind of bugged me about this was that you didn't touch on academics. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like girls are a tad better at academics than boys. But, don't get me wrong, we have many intelligent guys. Even guys who are very intelligent, but just DON'T try. Anyways, I surprisingly liked this. Good input.

  9. Riggs,

While your poor spelling is distracting (these post are meant to be informal, but not sloppy), I'm nonetheless impressed with how much debate your post has engendered. Always a good thing. Nice job!
