Here's a list of ideas i might write my essay on:
Traveling italy and discussing my families mannerisms and cultural differences
Making Avocado ice cream in the culinary isp
Some soccer experience
Experience moving from a big city to telluride
My first time river rafting (nature vs. society)
the ice cream could be good. Show off your writing by being super descriptive about taste, smells, etc. then what would you apply it to? How learning with ISPs is more interesting? Or the sense of accomplishment/victory when you make something tasty? perhaps you could combine the ice cream idea with a soccer experience, both kinds of victory and achievement...
ReplyDeleteOoohhh! you should combine the first time river rafting idea with the experience of moving from a big city. You can talk about how both the LA and Telluride lifestyles have combined to make you the person you are today. Maybe open the essay by describing the rafting experience? Then talk about what you have learned from both places? You can talk about the differences and challenges you have dealt with making such a drastic change. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteAli,
ReplyDeleteBoth Kelsy and Nina make good points, but I might lean toward kelsey at this point--avacado ice cream is flat out weird on its surface (so there's a potential for humor), but, as Kelsy points out, it creates a wonderful opportunity--through reference to the ISP program--to address your own learning style. Try it. See what you come up with. (I remember seeing a draft of the river essay--last year's Transcendentalist piece--and that could work very well also...again, you need to work your way through at least one draft before you know).
Awesome post. I have no words for it. Thanks for sharing.
