Snuggie Infomercial
My satire is going to be about how people get sucked into infomercials and buy the product because they think it is actually something that will work and will make your life better. I am basing my satire mostly on the ridiculous snuggie product. Because it's presented as being not just an article of clothing, but an essential solution that delivers clearly stated and highly desired benefits to whoever buys it.

this could be good. you could write the script of the commercial. and add in how there are sizes for everyone, and different colors. and how if you buy one now you can get another one half off.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty similar to the Onion article on the Magna Soles (or whatever they were called). I like the idea, and you could tackle a different part of the advertising, because people aren't buying Snuggies because of scientific blabbering, but for different reasons, and you could satirize those.
ReplyDeletePeople buy snuggies because blankets don't have pre-made arm-holes. They also buy them for that free reading light, in your satire you should have something like that!
